New York Eats + Travels

Well, I've been gone.. definitely, not eating on the healthier side when on vacation. It was worth it. Walking for majority of the day into the late nights helped us walk off the calories... also sharing meals too.. which my husband and I do very, very frequently since the day we started dating. Others find that a little strange, but it helps us eat more variety!

Totto Ramen: the men did were not impressed, but the ladies were happy with a hot soupy meal.

Stayed at my old friend's place with her annoying fiance 😂

St. Patrick's Cathedral. Weddings do occur here! I can't imagine the rate 😶

FAO Schwartz: After a little riot outside because they tried to close 30 min early... they finally let people in. All we bought was candy. Worth it.

Not sure why the lighting is so blue. Golden Unicorn: Dim sum! It was so good. Raymond was shocked how we order so much at once... isn't that how we always do it back home? New Yorkers..

Super Flakey Durian Dessert.. Probably the best durian dessert we've ever eaten.

So much food. .. But it didn't end here.

Chinatown Ice Cream Factory: Lychee + Pandan // Pandan + Sesame. Pandan wins hands down

Later that night...

Lady M: Green Tea Crepe Cake. I really wanted to try their other flavors.. like Earl Grey... but they didn't have much left.

The reason for our Trip... Abin + Shushma's Wedding!
The night before...

Girl Cousins: So Many Pretty Saris

Beautiful Bride and her crew

Our main courses! Crispy Duck Al'Orange + Grand Marnier Glaze // Filet Mignon + Shrimp with a lobster sauce

Cutest Host while the pawrent's are away.

Back At It:

Katz's Deli: Famous Pastrami Sandwich. Cash only!

Grand Central Oyster Bar: Belon, Boss Gibson, Cape Bay, Kumamoto (our fav!), Sunset Beach

Last Day in NYC

Food Market in Chinatown.. Random Find

Wah Fung Chinese BBQ Pork for $4 sm $5.50 large. Good stuff! Cash only

Chelsea Market: Lobster Place for more seafood

Chelsea Market: Seed + Mill... A super unique tahini dessert! So Good

Last dinner: Ikinari Steak... suppose to be a standing restaurant like in Japan.. Eat and go on with your day, but in the US people like to sit and converse during meals. Sit down restaurant it is.

McSorley's, Bernice Abbot, oldest bar in NYC
Another Cash Only place..  the oldest Ale pub since 1854: McSorley's serves beers in pairs.. and only can order Light or dark ale. Find out when you visit.. We had mixed feelings about the place, but it was still an experience. Apparently, Abe Lincoln and John Lennon have been here O_o

So many pizza places, but the only picture I have is from our least impressed midnight meal. Only reflux causing pizza too. This was our last food of the trip.

Vegetarian Meals

Before my trip, I had a fun pot luck with my girls I made Jackfruit BBQ pulled "pork" Homemade Coleslaw dressing After returning... went straight to my sister's for Thanksgiving... Turkey, ham, pumpkin pie, etc etc. First cooked meal at home: vegetarian jap chae with Zoodles and Carrot Noodles with my new spiralizer. Augh, I don't know why my pictures don't show up on some posts... but I am too lazy to fix it AGAIN. :\

Bunch of cooking and baking

Making pumpkin brownies Recipe here All that turned into this. Honestly, the flavor was really good but coconut flour in this recipe gave it a kinda dense, chalky texture. Def would use regular flour instead. Always. Watching. Just fed up that I wouldn't give them some brownies Food haul? All my TJ goodies. Chocolate chunks were to make these with some leftover coconut chia muffins.  Love this stuff. It's muop xao hanh la tom. This squash is what luffas are made from. I love it sauteed with green onions and shrimp. Seasoned with a little fish sauce. My mom mainly makes it into a soup which is really good too. Day old rice is the best to use for fried rice. Really quick one with celery, grated carrot, egg, and soy sauce

Roasted Cauliflower

An all time favorite.  My father in law is a quiet man, but we know when he enjoys something.  One day, I just chopped up a cauliflower, tossed it in olive oil, paprika, salt, and pepper... then threw it in the oven at 450F for 30-40 min until nice and browned to your liking.  The next day, he brought home 2 cauliflower heads.
